Biography
Dr. Daniel Rathnakara Sadananda is a distinguished New Testament scholar, theologian, and church leader from India. He served as Professor of New Testament at Karnataka Theological College (KTC), Mangaluru, where he made significant contributions to theological education and biblical scholarship. Deeply rooted in contextual and ecumenical theology, his academic work integrates rigorous New Testament studies with contemporary concerns of justice, mission, and the life of the church.
Dr. Sadananda also served as General Secretary of the Church of South India (CSI) for six years, providing visionary leadership and strengthening the church’s mission in areas of social responsibility, ecumenical engagement, and theological renewal. His scholarship and ministry reflect a deep commitment to justice, peace, and the integrity of creation, encouraging the church to interpret Scripture in ways that affirm life and holistic mission in today’s world.
He also served as Director of the Karnataka Theological Research Institute, affiliated with Kannada University, Hampi, which offers M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes in Kannada, Culture, History, and Developmental Studies.
In addition, Dr. Sadananda served as President of the United Theological College Society for a term of three years, contributing to the strengthening of theological education and ecumenical collaboration in India.
