Dr. Aswathy John is a theologian and academic specializing in Indian Christian Theology. She holds a B.Sc. in Physics, B.D. and M.Th. in Theology from Kottayam Mar Thoma Theological Seminary, and a Doctorate from the United Theological College (UTC), Bangalore. In addition, she has earned M.A. degrees in Public Administration and Philosophy, reflecting her interdisciplinary academic interests.

Dr. John has over twenty-one years of teaching experience, contributing extensively to theological education at both Bachelor of Divinity (B.D.) and Master of Theology (M.Th.) levels. She has served as faculty at the North India Institute of Post Graduate Theological Studies (NIIPGTS), a collaborative academic programme of Serampore College and Bishop’s College, where she continues to be involved in M.Th. teaching and research guidance.

She joined Serampore College eighteen years ago and currently serves as a teaching faculty member in the M.Th. and D.Th. programmes. She also made history as the first woman Vice-Principal of Serampore College.

In 2022, Dr. Aswathy John was appointed Dean of the Department of Research (SATHRI – South Asia Theological Research Institute) of the Senate of Serampore College, where she oversees advanced research programmes including Doctor of Theology (D.Th.) and Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) studies.

She resides in Serampore, West Bengal, and actively contributes to various academic committees and councils related to theological research and higher education.
