Biography
Prof Dr C. T. Aravindakumar is the Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, India, and a distinguished scientist in the field of environmental sciences. He serves as Senior Professor at the School of Environmental Sciences and holds key positions as Honorary Director of the Inter University Instrumentation Centre (IUIC), Head of the Sophisticated Analytical Instrument Facility (SAIF), and Honorary Director of the International Centre for Polar Studies.
He completed his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Pune, with doctoral research on radiation chemical studies of DNA model systems in collaboration with leading institutions including BARC, Mumbai, and the Max Planck Institute, Germany. He has held prestigious fellowships such as the Max Planck Society Fellowship, ERASMUS Fellowship, and Fulbright Fellowship, and has undertaken research and teaching assignments in several countries.
His research interests include environmental chemistry, photochemistry, radiation biology, advanced oxidation processes for pollutant degradation, water purification technologies, and polar environmental studies. He has published extensively in reputed international journals and has guided over 30 doctoral scholars.
He has also played a significant role in academic leadership, research infrastructure development, and environmental policy initiatives in India.
