Biography
Dr. R. J. Ranjit Daniels is a distinguished Indian wildlife biologist and conservation scientist with extensive experience in biodiversity conservation, wildlife ecology, and environmental research. He is the Co-founder and Trustee of Care Earth Trust, a Chennai-based organization dedicated to biodiversity conservation, ecological restoration, and environmental research.
Dr. Daniels holds a PhD in Ecology from the Indian Institute of Science. His primary research interest is biodiversity conservation, with a particular focus on the ecology and conservation of threatened ecosystems.
He has authored more than twelve books and published over fifty peer-reviewed scientific papers. One of his recent publications is the book Birds of Tamil Nadu, which contributes significantly to the documentation and understanding of avian diversity in the region.
Dr. Daniels has made notable contributions to the study and conservation of biodiversity, wetlands, and wildlife habitats in India, especially in the Western Ghats and other ecologically sensitive ecosystems. His research has helped strengthen scientific understanding of threatened species, habitat conservation, and sustainable ecosystem management.
