Biography

Ms Athena Peralta serves as Programme Executive for Economic and Ecological Justice at the World Council of Churches (WCC), where she leads global initiatives addressing the intersections of ecological justice, economic transformation, and gender equity. Originally from the Philippines and now based in Switzerland, she brings extensive experience in development economics and public policy. Before joining the WCC, she worked as a Senior Economic Development Specialist at the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) of the Philippines.

Her academic and advocacy work integrates feminist economic perspectives with faith-based approaches to justice and sustainability. She co-edited Greed Line: A Tool for a Just Economy and authored A Caring Economy: Feminist Perspectives on Alternative Globalization Addressing People and Earth. At the WCC, she contributes to long-term ecumenical strategies, including the Ecumenical Decade of Climate Justice Action (2025–2034), advancing systemic transformation for vulnerable communities.
